For the geology geeks of GeoSonic the opportunity to attend the Extractive Industry Geology conference (EIG) held across two days at St Andrews University was too tempting to resist. This was a great opportunity to rub shoulders (quite literally at the evening ceilidh) with most of the leading lights in the aggregate and industrial minerals sectors from both the UK and their peers from the US FGIM who made the special trip to celebrate their 50th Anniversary.
The conference programme contained a veritable mix of presentations ranging from the role of Carbonatite deposits in the industrial minerals industry to extracting musical notes from rock cores!
Bearded geologist and technical manager Andy Condron was on hand at our trade stand to field a plethora of questions regarding sonic drilling from the many delegates who wandered by.
Our next outing will be at the upcoming Geotechnica Conference held at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre on the 2nd and 3rd of July. Please feel free to call by and chat to our guys about all things sonic drilling and receive a very smart water bottle and pen.
